SANOPONIC
1999-2000
Drummer and producer, Steve Versaw and I had a basement recording project studio in a converted bungalow on Homer St. in Chicago, around the corner from the Map Room bar where these songs were produced. Steve did most of the mixing and turned some simple songs into some cool indie psych pop rock. We played out some, trying to reproduce these live to some success with future M’s bassist, Joey King. Our first show was at the Mutiny, a tiny hole in the wall on the Northside. Like Sanoponic, the Mutiny is no longer. This was a very experimental time when it seemed like my world was a giant open field full of possibilities. So much came out of this time and I think I started to get my footing a little bit. Much of what we recorded and is lost to moves and bad hard drives and archaic software. Maybe I’ll find them someday.
One of our projects was a soundtrack for a short film our pal, Mark Lopez, wrote and directed called Hap.
